The Odisha Civil Service exam has three steps to choose candidates for Group A and Group B posts. First there is a prelims exam, then a mains exam, and after that an interview. The prelims exam is only for screening, so its marks are not added to the final result. Those who pass the prelims move to the mains exam. The final selection is based on the marks scored in the mains exam and the interview.

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Personality Test/ Interview

Every eligible candidate who appears in the Civil Services Examination is allowed to take the exam up to six times.

  • There is no limit on the number of attempts for candidates from SC and ST categories.
  • Candidates from Socially and Educationally Backward Classes can attempt the exam up to 9 times if they are eligible for reservation.

It is important for candidates to know the full OPSC OCS exam pattern, like how many questions will be asked, how marks are given, and what topics will come in the exam. This helps them prepare in a better way and improve their chances of doing well.

  • The preliminary exam has two papers with multiple choice questions.
  • Each paper is for 200 marks.
  • Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are of 2 hours each.
  • Paper 2 is only for qualifying, and candidates must score more than 33 percent to pass it.
  • For every wrong answer, 0.33 marks will be cut.
