Step 1. Preparation of Merit List
The India Post GDS Result 2026 is prepared purely based on marks obtained in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination).
- No written examination is conducted

For candidates whose 10th mark sheet shows marks or both marks and grades, the total percentage is calculated by adding all compulsory and elective or optional subjects. The following formula is used to calculate marks: Marks = Grade Point × 9.5
| Grade | Grade Point | Multiplication Factor |
| A1 | 10 | 9.5 |
| A2 | 9 | 9.5 |
| B1 | 8 | 9.5 |
| B2 | 7 | 9.5 |
| C1 | 6 | 9.5 |
| C2 | 5 | 9.5 |
| D | 4 | 9.5 |
Step 2. Tie-Breaking Criteria
- Preference is given to the candidate with a higher age
- If the tie still persists, category reservation rules are applied as per the Government of India norms in Males and Females separately: ST → SC → OBC → EWS → UR
Step 3. Document Required for Verification After GDS Result
- 10th Class Marksheet
- Valid Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, etc.)
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
