The wait is over- The IBPS PO prelims Exam 2025 is all set to begin tomorrow, August 17, 2025. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will conduct the Prelims Exam on August 17, 23 and 24, 2025.
This exam is the first big step for lakhs of aspirants dreaming of a career as a Probationary Officer (PO) in the banking sector.
IBPS PO Prelims 2025: Exam Pattern
The Prelims Exam will be an online objective test of 100 marks and will last for 1 hour. It will have 3 sections:
- English Language – 30 questions (30 marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude – 35 questions (35 marks)
- Reasoning Ability – 35 questions (35 marks)
Candidates must qualify each section by clearing the individual cut-off as well as the overall cut-off to move on to the Mains Exam.

IBPS PO prelims 2025 Exam : Important Guidelines
Candidates appearing for the exam must carefully follow these instructions:
- Mandatory Documents: Carry your call letter/admit card (for the correct date & session) along with a valid photo ID proof (original) that matches the name on your application/call letter.
- Reporting Time: Reach the exam center before the reporting time mentioned on your admit card. Latecomers will not be allowed inside.
- Negative Marking: For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. So, avoid unnecessary guessing.
- Prohibited Items: Do not carry stationery items (books, notes, calculator, pen drive, log tables, electronic pen/scanner, etc.) inside the exam hall.
- Jewellery & Accessories: Items like rings, earrings, nose pins, chains, pendants, badges, brooches will be thoroughly checked at the exam center.
