The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) evaluates candidates’ knowledge of laws and professional ethics. The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a compulsory exam for law graduates in India who wish to practice as advocates. The AIBE 20 is scheduled to be conducted on 30th November 2025, and candidates will be able to download their admit cards from 15th November 2025 onwards. Candidates can check the eligibility criteria for AIBE 20 examination:

  • Candidates must have passed or are in the final year of 3-year LL.B or 5-year integrated LL.B degree.
  • A recognised law degree from a BCI-approved institution is required.

Updated Guidelines: BCI has issued updated guidelines for AIBE 20 (XX) registration. The information is for the following categories of candidates from BCI-recognized Universities or approved law colleges:

1. Final-Year / Final-Semester Law Students (Without Backlogs)

  • Candidates in their final semester of a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. course and no backlogs in previous semesters, are eligible to register for AIBE XX.

2. Law Graduates Who Have Not Received Their Degree Yet

  • Candidates who completed a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. course and passed out but have not yet received their degree certificate are eligible to apply for AIBE 20.
  • No minimum marks required to appear for AIBE.
  • However, universities may prescribe minimum grades for further legal education (LL.M., etc.).

There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in the AIBE exam.

  • State Bar Council registration is no longer mandatory to appear in AIBE.
  • Candidates can apply even if not enrolled with a State Bar Council.
  • Law graduates who passed LL.B. before the academic year 2009–2010 are exempted from AIBE.
  • Those who graduated in 2008 or earlier (even if enrolled later) do not need to appear for AIBE.
  • Candidates graduating from 2009–10 onwards must appear and pass the AIBE to practice law.
  • Unlimited attempts are allowed until the candidate qualifies.
  • However, candidates must pass AIBE within two years of provisional enrollment with the State Bar Council.
  • If the 2-year period expires without qualifying, the candidate must re-enroll to appear again.

The registration process for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) has begun on the official website https://www.allindiabarexamination.com. Eligible candidates can submit their applications for the exam on or before 28th October 2025 by using the link provided below in the article.

The application fee for AIBE 20 must be paid online through a Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI to complete the registration process. All payments are non-refundable, and additional bank charges may apply during the transaction. The category-wise fee is as follows:

  • Visit the Bar Council of India’s official AIBE website: https://www.allindiabarexamination.com
  • Scroll down the homepage and find the text: “Notification with regard to schedule of All India Bar Examination- XX”
  • Click on the link “Registration link AIBE-XX”
  • On the new page, click the “New Registration” button
  • Enter your details: Name, Place, Mobile Number, Email, Enrollment Number, and State
  • After registration, note your registration number to log in again to the application form
  • Fill in details such as Educational Qualification, Date of Birth, Preferred Exam Centres, and Preferred Exam Language
  • Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in JPG format as per the specified size
  • Pay the registration/application fee online using the available payment methods
  • Submit the AIBE 20 application form and take a printout for future reference

a) Final Semester Students:
